Basketball Game Preview: Carmel Corsairs vs. Marian Catholic Spartans

Carmel hasn't had much luck against Marian Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Carmel Corsairs will challenge the Marian Catholic Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Carmel is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Lake Zurich: they outscored them in every quarter. Carmel strolled past Lake Zurich with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 54-38.

Meanwhile, Marian Catholic waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 59-43 victory over the Shamrocks.

Marian Catholic has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Carmel, their record now sits at 8-14.

Carmel came up short against Marian Catholic in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 71-61. Can Carmel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
