Basketball Recap: Layla Mallery's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Martinsville over Jasper

Martinsville suffered their biggest defeat since December 20, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against the Jasper Wildcats, falling 68-42. The loss continues a trend for the Artesians in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Martinsville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Layla Mallery, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Curless, who posted ten points.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Jasper, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8-1.

Martinsville will head out to challenge Franklin Community at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jasper, they will head out on the road to square off against Evansville Mater Dei at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
