Baseball Recap: Cedar Comes Up Short

Canyon View hit Cedar with a six-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Reds fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 6-5. The Reds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jacob Boyer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Cedar is 2-1 when Boyer posts three or more RBI, but 9-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Payton Ludlow, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Cedar has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Canyon View, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 19-3.

Cedar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Canyon View, they will be playing at home against North Sanpete at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Falcons' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Hawks have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
