Rudder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Huntsville Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-9 back in February.

Rylee Puente was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Destini Mack was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Kiley Newland was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Rudder's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Huntsville, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Coming up, Rudder will take on A&M Consolidated at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Huntsville, they will challenge Lake Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Creek will roll in looking for their 22nd straight win, something Huntsville surely won't give up without a fight.
