Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Leavitt walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Gray-New Gloucester Patriots 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Patriots back in May, they had to take a 9-3 loss.

The team relied heavily on Nick Mellen, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Randan Hutchinson, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Leavitt and bumps their season record up to 8-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Gray-New Gloucester, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8.

Coming up, Leavitt will face off against Greely on Thursday. The Rangers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Gray-New Gloucester does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
