Baseball Recap: Springstead Beats Citrus for Their Fourth Straight Win

Springstead came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 11-7 win over the Citrus Hurricanes. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-3 last Tuesday.

Springstead got a massive performance out of Nathaniel Sabino, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5. What's more, Sabino posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Andrew Ward was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Springstead pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.5 hits in those games compared to only 4.86 in the others. As for Citrus, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Springstead will square off against Wesley Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Wesley Chapel has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Citrus, they will challenge Weeki Wachee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weeki Wachee's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Citrus' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
