Softball Recap: Benton Takes a Loss

Benton extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They lost 15-5 to the Sugar Valley Rural Phoenix. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Phoenix earlier this season, when they won 28-27.

As for Sugar Valley Rural, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 2-12-1. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For Sugar Valley Rural's part, Olivia Johnson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Showers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

As of now, neither Benton nor Sugar Valley Rural have any future games scheduled.
