Softball Game Preview: Westminster Lions vs. Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies

For the first time this season, Westminster will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to face off against the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Westminster has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 25.

Westminster lost 17-1 to Artesia on Tuesday.

Westminster saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Aguilar, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Godinez Fundamental's offense. They came up short against University on Thursday, falling 12-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Grizzlies' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Westminster's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Godinez Fundamental, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Westminster suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to Godinez Fundamental in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Westminster avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
