Volleyball Recap: Williams Comes Up Short

Williams was the 2-0 winner over Willcox when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 2-1 on Friday. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cowboys 25-16 in the first set.

Williams started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-15, 15-5.

Ava Burrell paced Williams' offense, picking up nine kills. Burrell got some help from Lily Weatherhead and her 13 assists.

With the defeat, Williams broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 12-7. As for Willcox, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Williams wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Many Farms on the 10th. As for Willcox, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Joseph City on the 10th.
