Basketball Recap: Bellevue West Beats Lincoln Southwest for Their Fourth Straight Victory

If Lincoln Southwest wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bellevue West, they should've done a better job of containing Robert Garcia. The Bellevue West Thunderbirds walked away with an 81-72 win over the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks on Tuesday thanks to Garcia, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double with 29 points and 17 rebounds. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least 18 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Johnson Jr, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 22 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Lincoln Southwest lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Dakari Wilson, who went 7-for-11 en route to 18 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Makkiah Sanders, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 21 points and five assists.

The victory (which was Bellevue West's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7. As for Lincoln Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellevue West and Bellevue East will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln Southwest, they will face off against Omaha North at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln Southwest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Omaha North likes a good challenge.
