Volleyball Recap: Taylor Flowers and Kayana Mickens Secure Win for Eastside

Eastside's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Hawthorne Hornets. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won four in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-19, 25-13.

Leading Eastside to victory were Kayana Mickens and Taylor Flowers. Mickens had 11 assists and two aces, while Flowers hit 71.4% for six kills and 11 aces and two assists. That's the most assists Flowers has posted since back in August.

They weren't the only good servers: Eastside was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 36 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Eastside's victory bumped their record up to 4-19. As for Hawthorne, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-23.

Eastside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against North Marion on the 13th. As for Hawthorne, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Chiefland on the 13th.
