Softball Game Preview: Jack Britt Buccaneers vs. Douglas Byrd Eagles

Jack Britt is a perfect 6-0 against Douglas Byrd since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Jack Britt will welcome Douglas Byrd at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Jack Britt came up short against South View on Tuesday, falling 14-5. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ashanthy Marcano and Emma Sandoval stepped up to the plate in a big way. Marcano went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Sandoval scored two runs while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Sandoval a new career-high in RBI (three). Ta'Niyah Turner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Douglas Byrd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 25th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 34-10 to Seventy-First. One positive for the Eagles, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Douglas Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Jack Britt, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Jack Britt took their victory against Douglas Byrd when the teams last played on March 4th by a conclusive 19-2. Will Jack Britt repeat their success, or does Douglas Byrd has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
