Baseball Game Preview: Carrollton Cavaliers vs. Ithaca Yellowjackets

The Carrollton Cavaliers will head out to face off against the Ithaca Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary hit Carrollton with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cavaliers took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carrollton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Spiece, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ithaca, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Nouvel Catholic Central on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ithaca is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Carrollton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-17.

Carrollton came up short against Ithaca in their previous meeting back in April, falling 7-2. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
