Baseball Recap: Kewanee Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mendota on Thursday, Kewanee came back down to earth. The Boilermakers fell just short of the Rockridge Rockets by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Boilermakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rockets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Kewanee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lincoln Mason, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Kewanee has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Rockridge, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-8.

Coming up, Kewanee is taking a road trip to square off against Princeton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Boilermakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Rockridge, they will welcome St. Bede at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
