Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Northeast Rockets vs. Columbus Discoverers

Lincoln Northeast is 8-1 against Columbus since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lincoln Northeast Rockets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Columbus Discoverers at 5:30 p.m.

Lincoln Northeast and Lincoln Southeast faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. Lincoln Northeast fell 40-30 to Lincoln Southeast. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lincoln Northeast's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brynna Renard, who posted six points and 12 rebounds, and Paige Perry, who had seven points. Renard is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played.

Meanwhile, Columbus had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They secured a 62-58 W over the Navigators. While the Discoverers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Columbus has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Lincoln Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Lincoln Northeast was able to grind out a solid victory over Columbus in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 47-40. Does Lincoln Northeast have another victory up their sleeve, or will Columbus turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
