Basketball Recap: Lebanon Comes Up Short

Lebanon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 72-40 defeat at the hands of the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Greyhounds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-32 back in November of 2024.

Lebanon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being DeVaughn Ware, who posted 17 points. That was a full 42.5% of Lebanon's points, marking the third time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Deion Washington, who earned 13 points.

Leading Father McGivney Catholic to victory were Chase Jansen and Aiden Willis. Jansen dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Willis made all 7 shots he took to post 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Jansen a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was David Carroll, who had eight points.

Lebanon's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Father McGivney Catholic, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lebanon will face off against Mt. Olive at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they will take on Maryville Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
