Softball Recap: Lucas Cubs vs. Crestline Bulldogs
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lucas). They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Crestline Bulldogs on Wednesday. For the Cubs, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.
Maddie Boyer made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That hit marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Lucas got a massive performance out of Emma Brown, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Charlize Stinehour was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Lucas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
