Volleyball Recap: Wheaton North Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It was a Battle of the Birds when Wheaton North duked it out with Leyden on Wednesday. The Falcons came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 2-0. The victory was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Wheaton North took both sets by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-8.

Wheaton North can attribute much of their success to Sophia Ohashi, who had 14 assists and four aces. That's the most aces Ohashi has posted over her last 11 contests.

Ohashi wasn't the only good servers: Wheaton North was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leyden only served two.

Wheaton North's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Leyden, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.

Wheaton North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Timothy Christian on the 9th. As for Leyden, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Taft on the 10th.
