Recap: Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Mustangs vs. Yale Bulldogs
The Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 40 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 75-40 loss at the hands of Yale. Pioneer-Pleasant Vale was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Yale apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the loss, Pioneer-Pleasant Vale still got an impressive performance from Christian Morrow, who rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Ballard, who rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
Yale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braiden Hodgett out in front who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also caught a touchdown. Hodgett really tore up the turf during one magnificent 95-yard run. Another player making a difference was Jaden Rolland, who rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
This is the second loss in a row for Pioneer-Pleasant Vale and nudges their season record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Drumright (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.3% over those games). As for Yale, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer-Pleasant Vale will take on Regent Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Regent Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pioneer-Pleasant Vale in Oklahoma (Regent Prep is ranked third, while Pioneer-Pleasant Vale is ranked 39th). As for Yale, they will be playing at home against Barnsdall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
