Basketball Recap: Wheeler Mustangs vs. Memphis Cyclones
The Wheeler Mustangs won the last time they faced the Memphis Cyclones, and things went their way on Friday too. Wheeler came out on top against the Cyclones by a score of 60-47. Given Wheeler's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while the Cyclones are ranked 1321st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Memphis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Braden Bond. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Dresden Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Wheeler's win bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Memphis, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.
Wheeler will head out on the road to square off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Quanah and the Mustangs are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. As for Memphis, they will be playing at home against the Irish at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shamrock is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
