Football Recap: Bothell Takes a Tough Playoff Loss + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bothell can now relate to. They fell just short of the Moses Lake Mavericks by a score of 17-14 on Saturday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2021.

Bothell's loss came despite strong showings from Mylez Welch and Carlin Gochnour. Welch rushed for 115 yards and one score, while Gochnour picked up 74 receiving yards and one touchdown. Welch is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season.

Bothell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kyle Sychov and Carson Hopkins. That interception was Hopkins' first of the season.

Moses Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brady Jay led the charge by throwing for 168 yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 57 yards. That's the most rushing yards Jay has posted since back in September. Elijah Burns was another key player, gaining 140 total yards.

Bothell's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3. As for Moses Lake, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Bothell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Moses Lake, they will square off against Lake Stevens at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mavericks will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 31 points in their last eight games.
