Basketball Recap: Hutto Triumphs

Hutto hadn't done well against Stony Point recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hutto Hippos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 victory over the Stony Point Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Hippos: when they faced off against the Tigers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 43-33 loss.

Despite the defeat, Stony Point had strong showings from Kinnedy Funderburke, who posted 15 points, and Megan Paulk, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Paulk a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakiyah Lewis, who had five points and six rebounds.

Hutto's win bumped their record up to 15-17. As for Stony Point, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-15 record.

Hutto will head out on the road to square off against Vandegrift at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vandegrift will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Hutto surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stony Point, they will welcome Round Rock Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
