Baseball Recap: Grimsley Has No Trouble Against Page

Grimsley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Page Pirates. The Whirlies not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st.

Grimsley got a great performance from Jacob Benbow as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Benbow has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Snyder, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Ponder, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Grimsley and bumps their season record up to 14-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Page, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Coming up, Grimsley will face off against Hoggard at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Page, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southeast Guilford at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
