Basketball Recap: Wright Comes Up Short

Wright was the 40-38 winner over Pine Bluffs when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between the Wright Panthers and the Pine Bluffs Hornets didn't end well, with the Wright Panthers falling 45-27. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Wright lost on Friday, don't look at Briana Meza. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Meza is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Dani Barnhurst, who posted eight points.

Wright now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Pine Bluffs, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Wright didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-32 victory against Shoshoni on the 10th. As for Pine Bluffs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-31 win against Sundance on the 10th.
