Softball Recap: Juneau-Douglas Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Ketchikan

Juneau-Douglas faced Ketchikan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Crimson Bears fell 10-5 to the Kings. The defeat continues a trend for the Crimson Bears in their meetings with the Kings: they've now lost five in a row.

Juneau-Douglas saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alayna Echiverri, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. June Troxel was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Juneau-Douglas' loss dropped their record down to 10-8-1. As for Ketchikan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Juneau-Douglas will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wasilla at 3:45 p.m. on the 16th. As for Ketchikan, they will take on Sitka on Friday.
