Volleyball Recap: Newman Comes Up Short

Newman lost against Freedom back in August of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fighting Cardinals took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Irish.

Camille Sobolewski paced Newman's offense, picking up eight kills. Sobolewski got some help from Lexi Rice and her nine assists.

Halle Srb was the offensive standout of the match as she had eight digs and four assists. Those four assists gave her a new career-high.

Newman has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Freedom, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Newman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Houghton on the 29th. As for Freedom, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Marshfield on the 29th.
