Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beatty). They won by a run and slipped past the Sandy Valley Sidewinders 12-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hornets considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Mayrin Castro was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Melody Vargas, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI.

Beatty's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Sandy Valley, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Beatty will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sidewinders: the pair will be back at it again later today.
