Athens Academy had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came out on top against the Oglethorpe County Patriots by a score of 2-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Athens Academy easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-19.

Sally Swann paced Athens Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Swann got some help from Lucy Wages and her ten assists. Ginna Dugas controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Athens Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Oglethorpe County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Coincidentally, Athens Academy and Oglethorpe County will both be playing Eastside the next time they take the court. The Patriots will head out to face the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Spartans will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
