Preview: Boys Town Cowboys vs. Wayne Blue Devils
The Boys Town Cowboys will head out on the road to take on the Wayne Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Boys Town's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Last Saturday, Boys Town didn't have too much trouble with Milford at home as they won 67-48. Given Boys Town's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Milford is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Wayne stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They put the hurt on Crofton with a sharp 57-37 win. Wayne pushed the score to 50-21 by the end of the third, a deficit Crofton cut but never quite recovered from.
Drue Davis was a one-man wrecking crew for Wayne as he scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colson Nelsen, who scored 12 points.
The victory got Boys Town back to even at 10-10. As for Wayne, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5.
Everything went Boys Town's way against Wayne when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as Boys Town made off with a 62-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boys Town since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
