Basketball Recap: Sierra Grande Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Aron Ojeda and Jadyn Martinez

Sierra Grande suffered their closest defeat since February 9, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Primero Bulldogs by a score of 46-43. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Sierra Grande's loss came despite strong showings from Jadyn Martinez and Aron Ojeda. Martinez went 7-for-14 to rack up 19 points and four steals, while Ojeda went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points. Ojeda is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 12 games he's played.

Primero's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Komaroski led the charge by going 5-for-7 on his way to 18 points. What's more, Komaroski also posted a 71% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2024. Mat Pachorek was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points and six rebounds.

Sierra Grande's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Primero, the victory was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-1.

Sierra Grande does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Primero, they will head out to face off against Granada at 2:00 p.m. on March 1st.
