Basketball Recap: Berthoud Spartans vs. Weld Central Rebels

The Berthoud Spartans won the last time they faced the Weld Central Rebels, and things went their way on Thursday too. Berthoud simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Rebels 63-27 on the road.

Avery Pfohl continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 5-for-11 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double on 48 points and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Harper, who scored five points along with three steals.

Despite the defeat, Weld Central had strong showings from Riley Phelps, who scored seven points along with 17 rebounds and three steals, and Jazlyn Ontiveros, who scored no points.

Berthoud's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Weld Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berthoud will take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. University will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Weld Central, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sterling has three straight victories, the Rebels have three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
