Softball Recap: Southwest Guilford Wins Going Away Against Ragsdale

Southwest Guilford came out on top against Ragsdale on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Cowboys put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-1 victory. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by ten runs or more this season.

Caroline Christman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Amelia Stewart was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Makayla Stefanik was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Southwest Guilford and bumps their season record up to 11-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Ragsdale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Southwest Guilford is set to face off against their familiar foe Grimsley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Ragsdale will challenge rival Western Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
