The Shafter Generals will head out on the road to square off against the Lemoore Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Shafter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Porterville, sneaking past 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Generals.
Kamryn Munoz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Shafter's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Neveah Enriquez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lemoore). They blew past Caruthers 19-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Natash Johnson, who fired off four runs, three doubles, and one triple while going 4-for-4. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Guzman, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Lemoore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Shafter's record now sits at 17-11. As for Lemoore, their record is now 20-8-1.
Shafter couldn't quite get it done against Lemoore when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 10-6. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
