Basketball Preview: Stratford Knights vs. Goose Creek Gators
Stratford is 1-9 against the Gators since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Stratford Knights will be playing at home against the Goose Creek Gators at 7:30 p.m. Stratford has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
Last Friday, Stratford was the victim of a rough 60-38 loss at the hands of the Stags. While losing is never fun, Stratford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Stags are ranked 48th).
Despite their defeat, Stratford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Elijah Riley, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Nizhier Baldwin was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Goose Creek pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-55 to Wando. Goose Creek has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Stratford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Goose Creek, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-11.
Stratford took a serious blow against the Gators in their previous matchup back in January, falling 68-26. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Stratford was down 37-10.
