Baseball Recap: McComb Comes Up Short

McComb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 17-7 to the Raymond Rangers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Rangers since April 9, 2022.

Zavion Parker stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenmar Page, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Even though they lost, McComb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

McComb's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Raymond, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McComb will challenge rival Lawrence County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Raymond is set to face off against their familiar foe Richland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
