Basketball Recap: Preble Shawnee Arrows vs. Franklin Wildcats
The Preble Shawnee Arrows were the 50-36 winner over the Franklin Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Preble Shawnee lost to the Wildcats on the road by a decisive 63-44 margin on Wednesday. Preble Shawnee was down 45-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
When it comes to explaining why Preble Shawnee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caylee Hatmaker. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ashleigh Mondello-garrett, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Preble Shawnee struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Preble Shawnee and nudges their season record down to 5-12. As for Franklin, they pushed their record up to 6-13 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Preble Shawnee will take on the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Franklin, they will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Devils at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (Brookville is ranked 545th, while the Wildcats are ranked 564th).
