Basketball Game Preview: Penn Kingsmen vs. La Porte Slicers

Two dominant guards in Caleb Coolman and Griffin Ott-Large are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Penn Kingsmen will take on the La Porte Slicers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Penn will be strutting in after a win while La Porte will be coming in after a loss.

Penn proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 30) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They slipped by Merrillville 48-47. Given the Kingsmen's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Pirates are ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, La Porte took a blow against Mishawaka Marian on Friday, falling 71-43. The contest marked the Slicers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for La Porte and nudges their season record down to 14-9. As for Penn, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Everything went Penn's way against La Porte in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, as Penn made off with a 78-52 victory. Does Penn have another victory up their sleeve, or will La Porte turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
