Broughton proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wake Forest Cougars, sneaking past 3-1. The win was familiar territory for the Capitals, who have now won three matches in a row.

Broughton got a great performance from Sam Harris as he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Harris has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Weston Rhem was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Broughton's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Wake Forest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-3.

Broughton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 win against Middle Creek on the 4th. As for Wake Forest, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-7 defeat against Leesville Road on the 4th.
