Baseball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Faith Christian Academy had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys, falling 15-1. If Faith Christian Academy was looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-6. The result was nothing new for the Ospreys, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's part, Greg Ghoorahoo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Ghoorahoo is becoming a predictor of the Ospreys' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Ryan Canipe was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Faith Christian Academy will take on Grace Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, they will challenge Timberlake Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Ospreys are facing the Tornadoes at the right time seeing as the Tornadoes are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
