Softball Recap: Pikeview Continues Road Dominance on Monday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Shady Spring, PikeView was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Greenbrier East Spartans. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Spartans on their field since April 10, 2015.

Shelby Maddox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cora Belcher was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Lauren Lambert was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

PikeView pushed their record up to 9-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Greenbrier East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

PikeView will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenbrier West at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Greenbrier East, they will head out on the road to square off against Oak Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
