Baseball Recap: Weld Central Rebels vs. University Bulldogs

Weld Central had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-14 to make it six. They came up short against the University Bulldogs, falling 14-5. The Rebels were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Pierce Thoene made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Ross Phelps also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for University, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.

On University's side, Aiden Solano looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Solano has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Korby, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played.
