Baseball Game Preview: Open Door Christian Patriots vs. Firelands Falcons

The Open Door Christian Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Firelands Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Open Door Christian came up short against Elyria on Saturday, falling 14-5. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ian Reed put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Reed was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Elias Branson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tripp Taylor, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Firelands lost 13-5 to North Ridgeville on Saturday. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Rangers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Kase Rogers was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Aaron Bower also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Open Door Christian's record now sits at 3-15. As for Firelands, their record is now 11-10.

Open Door Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Firelands when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
