Basketball Recap: Alex August's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Berman Hebrew Academy over New Hope Academy Regional

It was a proper cat-fight when Berman Hebrew Academy took on New Hope Academy Regional on Tuesday. The Berman Hebrew Academy Cougars took an 81-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Hope Academy Regional Tigers. The Cougars have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Berman Hebrew Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Alex August, who went 10-for-22 on his way to 27 points. That was a full 35.5% of Berman Hebrew Academy's points, marking the third time in a row August has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ezra Sushner, who shot 50% from the field en route to 15 points and six rebounds.

New Hope Academy Regional was led to victory by Lawson Hopkins and Jahmai Dayton. Hopkins earned 19 points, while Dayton dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 boards. Hopkins' big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Chis Bullock was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven assists and three steals.

Berman Hebrew Academy's loss dropped their record down to 31-7. As for New Hope Academy Regional, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-20 record this season.

As of now, neither Berman Hebrew Academy nor New Hope Academy Regional have any future games scheduled.
