Football Game Preview: Blake Bengals vs. Laurel Spartans + Official Tickets

The Blake Bengals will take on the Laurel Spartans on Friday. Blake is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Blake didn't have quite enough to beat Walter Johnson and fell 17-14.

Loss or not, Blake got some senior leadership from Michael Rosius and Junior Rodriguez. Rosius rushed for 80 yards and one TD, while Rodriguez rushed for 66 yards and one score on only six carries.

Meanwhile, Laurel slipped by Bowie 13-12 on Friday.

Laurel's win came from a few key players Blake will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Demerius Custis, who threw for 106 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 44 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Andre Stokes was another key player, rushing for 103 yards on only 14 carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Laurel proved: they limited Bowie to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The Spartans' ground attack was stronger, having averaged five.

Laurel is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Blake, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 5-4.
