Softball Game Preview: East vs. Boardman Spartans

East will head out to take on the Boardman Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. East has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while Boardman will come in with five straight wins.

East lost 20-3 to McKinley on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Boardman won against West Branch on Saturday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Spartans put the hurt on Howland with a sharp 7-0 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Gabi Sferra, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Howland off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ellie Wymer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Swantek, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

East's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Boardman, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.
