Basketball Recap: Greenbrier Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Greenbrier Christian Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Thursday. They took a blow against the Hickory Hawks, falling 68-22. The match marked the Gators' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Livia Smith and Katelyn Balka certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Smith dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, while Balka posted no points and seven rebounds. Balka is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Greenbrier Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Hickory, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenbrier Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on Broadwater Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hickory, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Great Bridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
