Volleyball Recap: Encina Comes Up Short

Encina was the 3-0 winner over Westlake Charter when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 2-0 to the Explorers on Saturday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Encina still got an impressive performance from Yoel Calleja, who had 19 assists and two blocks. Calleja has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more assists the last four times he's played.

Encina's loss dropped their record down to 22-10. As for Westlake Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Encina will welcome John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westlake Charter, they will face off against Esparto at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
