Basketball Recap: Monrovia Skates Past South Putnam with Ease

Monrovia lost to South Putnam back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Monrovia Bulldogs blew past the South Putnam Eagles 60-28. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 26 points or more this season.

Zoie Walls continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. Monrovia is 7-1 when Walls posts eight or more rebounds, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Emery Newlin, who went 6 of 13 en route to 16 points along with six boards and five assists.

Monrovia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Monrovia is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for South Putnam, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
