Baseball Recap: White Pine Takes a Loss

White Pine and Lake Mead Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but White Pine had to settle for second. They fell 11-8 to the Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent defeat being a 7-2 loss two weeks ago.

Maddox Sedlacek and Jacob Derbidge stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sedlacek went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Derbidge went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. White Pine is 10-2 when Derbidge posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

White Pine's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Lake Mead Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

White Pine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Mead Christian Academy, they will challenge Needles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
