Basketball Recap: Asheville Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Asheville Christian Academy lost against Greensboro Day School back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Asheville Christian Academy Lions took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greensboro Day School Bengals. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Bengals are ranked 33rd).

Despite the loss, Asheville Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Sara Larios, who almost dropped a triple-double on 28 points, ten assists, and nine steals. Larios' afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Ansley Fuchs was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Asheville Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Greensboro Day School, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Asheville Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Watauga at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Greensboro Day School, they and Providence Day will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
